Vilagocende Waterfall

With its 50-meter free fall, the Seimeira de Vilagocende holds the title of the tallest waterfall in Galicia and is undoubtedly one of the most impressive. Its power and beauty, especially during the rainy season, make it a must-visit destination for nature lovers.

The route, just 1.1 km long and with very little elevation change, is perfect for any fitness level. At the end, wooden walkways announce the arrival at the main attraction: the imposing curtain of water of the Porteliña River, which plunges with a roar and freshness, offering a unique spectacle for all the senses.

If you want a different view, a viewpoint located above the waterfall will give you another perspective of this iconic place in A Fonsagrada.

Viewpoints of Montouto and Arexo

In a landscape as rich in nature as A Fonsagrada, viewpoints that invite you to pause and admire the scenery cannot be missed. One of the most special is the Montouto Viewpoint, which not only offers spectacular views of the Fonsagrada lands but is also surrounded by valuable historical heritage along the Camino Primitivo to Santiago.

Here lie the ruins of the Montouto Hospital, built in the 17th century and operational until the early 20th century, which provided shelter to pilgrims traveling this Jacobean route. Next to it, the Montouto Hermitage keeps the tradition alive with local pilgrimages, and nearby stands a remnant of the ancient megalithic necropolis: the Montouto Dolmen, the only one still standing.

Another spot worth visiting is the Arexo Viewpoint, less known but equally impressive. From here, visitors can enjoy the panoramic view of the Navia River canyon, a natural border between Asturias and Galicia, a spectacle that combines the power of the terrain with the serenity of the landscape..

Taramundi

Less than an hour from A Fonsagrada is Taramundi, a must-visit destination for those looking to combine natural landscapes with cultural heritage. This picturesque village, located in the Asturian region of Los Oscos, is known for its rich artisanal tradition and for keeping alive centuries-old techniques of working with iron and wood.

One of its main attractions is the Mazonovo Mill Complex, a set of restored water mills that are part of the famous Water Route, where visitors can learn about traditional ingenuity and enjoy a walk through a charming natural setting..

Pueblos emblemáticos: Veiga de Arroxo y Aldea de Fonfría

Being A Fonsagrada an eminently rural municipality, it is worth visiting some of its villages and hamlets to discover the traditional mountain architecture, built in stone, with granaries, fountains, small chapels, and other typical constructions, as well as enjoying the calm of rural life.

Among them, the Aldea de Fonfría stands out, preserving the legacy of the old pilgrims' hospital, which served as a hostel and inn for those traveling these paths following the route of the Knights of Saint John. Another point of interest is Veiga de Arroxo, a unique ensemble in the parish of San Martín de Arroxo that reflects the essence of rural life in Fonsagrada.

Monte Acevedo (Alto do Acevo)
Another of the most impressive natural viewpoints in A Fonsagrada is Alto do Acevo, located in the parish of Monteseiro. With over a thousand meters of altitude, it gets its name from the abundance of holly trees in the area, which also serve as shelter for livestock during the cold winter and hot summer.

From this point, it is possible to observe a variety of wildlife, including birds such as robins, jays, or common blackbirds, while enjoying a spectacular view of the Fonsagrada mountains.
